Charm of Ulster
Let Walter Love be your guide as you discover the charms of this land of mountains and many waters
From the collection of:

Overview
Travel 35 miles from Scotland to a land that inspired ballads. From the Tears of the Mountain to the Giant’s Causeway you can still enjoy many of these charms today. Temptations for tourists are peppered with displays of Ulster produce. Flourishing industrial cities are as prominent as ancient sites of St Patrick. With a declining Empire and beginning of post war prosperity the British Tourist Authority advertises industrial and agricultural prowess alongside tourism.
The narrator Walter Love started his long career in broadcasting in 1946 aged 11. His passion began as he spent his days off school listening to Brian Johnston on the wireless. Walter was fascinated and inspired by Johnston’s stunts like reporting whilst lying on the railway tracks underneath a moving train. Things might have been very different if Brian Johnson had not reported from inside a post box, saying, "Thank you very much and have a happy Christmas” to everyone who posted a Christmas card. This film comes from the collection of National Museums Northern Ireland.
