Overview

This humorous short film presents Yorkshire Television’s quest to understand what fashion means to the residents of the small Yorkshire village of Carnaby. The camera follows the reporter as she interviews bemused locals about their sense of style. It is made abundantly clear that Carnaby in Yorkshire does not hold fashion in the same esteem as its namesake in the capital.

London’s Carnaby Street is famous for the many fashion shops and boutiques located there. The street’s notoriety was established in the 1960s when Britain was considered by many to be the ‘cultural capital’ of the world. Carnaby is a small village in East Yorkshire near Bridlington.
