In the bitter butter war against margarine, this short TV ad suggests that a bit of butter’s better with eggs

Advert 1959 Silent

Overview

Lacking in butter knowledge? Fear not: the Butter Information Council is here for you. The idea of adding butter to scramble eggs is nothing new; the point of this advert is to make mothers feel guilty for substituting margarine. The Council was an international advocacy body for butter producers, with its UK funding coming from the Milk Marketing Board.
