In the years before the ubiquitious high visibilty vest and traffic cameras road building schemes were far more primitive and pedestrians had to risk life and limb negotiating the road works. In 1966 work was underway on the main A34 Birmingham road at Great Barr. ATV Today reporter Gwyn Richards has been called in by a group of women to join them on their daily battle, with pushchairs and prams, to cross the building site.
