Overview

Veterans of the Great War, boy scouts, girl guides and a huge array of fire fighters and police officers march past the camera in this local topical film of Bilston's 1926 Civic Sunday parade. The film was arranged by Thomas Wood who ran a chain of local cinemas and his flagship 'Wood's Palace' features in this film. Cecil B. DeMille's The Golden Bed may be the next feature at the Palace but it will be soon replaced by this slice of local life.

Wood's Palace, like many other cinemas, was converted into a bingo hall in 1964. Two years later the Borough of Bilston itself was abolished with most parts of the old town being incorporated into nearby Wolverhampton.
