Surreal comedy for a post-apocalyptic landscape
Comedy 1967 8 mins
The Goons meets The Road in this series of comic gags in a bleak post-apocalyptic landscape. From its suicidal opening joke to its nuclear finish, there's clearly a dark underbelly here rarely associated with the work and character of Bob Godfrey. Not every gag is a winner, but they all benefit from the character-filled faces of the cast of 'Idiots'. Some copies of the film were released with the opening title: “This film is dedicated to the British Cinema Monopoly which makes it impossible......." hinting at some of the underlying frustrations.
