Overview

William Prall's film starts with cadets lining up for their march along Bramdean's lanes. There is a glimpse of the cadets’ clubhouse as they wait and pose for the camera. Assembling on the road, the march begins led by the drum major twirling a baton. The cadets, dressed in khaki uniforms, make their way through the village, with the band marching in front and the rest following. Following in the rear is a small group of uniformed female cadets.

William J Prall was a Winchester based watchmaker and jeweller and also a keen photographer and film maker. Wounded during the First World War, he filmed many aspects of civic life in and around Winchester. As an officer in the Army Cadet Force, Prall filmed many of that organisation’s activities, including the march of Bramdean's young cadets as seen in this film. He was also member of the Home Guard during World War Two.
