Arctic London

During an unusually harsh winter, a frozen trawler arrives on the river Thames

Non-Fiction 1929 1 mins Silent

Overview

Britain's ninth coldest winter of the 20th Century (1963 tops the chart) is recorded here in the form of a series of shots of the hapless occupants of the trawler 'Warter Priory' attempting to scrape the snow off the deck and rigging by means of any tools to hand - mainly axes. It was filmed by the Thames, and Tower Bridge can be glimpsed in the distance.
