Overview
This moving film showcases a royal visit to St Gemma’s Hospice in Leeds. A narrator opens the film by explaining the origins of the hospice, where crowds have gathered to meet Prince Charles and Princess Diana, who have come to open a £2 million extension. This is followed by a speech from Prince Charles, highlighting the importance of the hospice and the dedication of the staff and volunteers.
St. Gemma’s Hospice is the largest hospice in Yorkshire and one of the largest in the country as a whole. They offer in-patient, day service, and homecare for terminally people in the region. In addition to this, they also provide valuable support for the families of patients to help them cope with the stress and fears surrounding terminal illnesses.
