Overview
Residing over their declining Irish estate, an elderly couple (Maggie Smith and Michael Gambon) entertain a number of guests. Their niece (Keeley Hawes) enjoys flirtatious adventures with the invitees, including a British soldier (David Tennant). However, when a final guest arrives and begins to stir up trouble (Fiona Shaw), the delicate harmony of the house is imperiled.
With stunning performances from Maggie Smith, Michael Gambon, and David Tennant, The Last September is a fascinating portrayal of life in Ireland during a tumultuous decade.
