Hive
Director Blerta Basholli’s feature debut is a moving story of resilience and hope, and the first film in Sundance history to win all three main awards.
Director: Blerta Basholli
Overview
Fahrije’s husband has been missing since the war in Kosovo, and along with their grief, her family is struggling financially. In order to provide for them she launches a small business, but in the traditional patriarchal village where she lives, her ambition to empower herself and other women is met with hostility.
Hive is an unmissable and powerful tribute to everyday women who quietly change lives. Executive produced by Elizabeth Moss, and based on true events, Blerta Basholli’s debut feature was long-listed for Best International Feature at the 2022 Academy Awards® and also the first film in Sundance history to win all three main awards in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition - the Grand Jury Prize, the Audience Award and the Directing Award.
