Women Directors
Revisit and discover some of the best films made by female directors.
Stating that a film has been directed by a woman is increasingly losing its relevance as more and more female filmmakers appear each year. This collection includes films by established practitioners such as Sally Potter (Orlando, Ginger and Rosa) and Claire Denis (Bastards) to more recent British talents such as Joanna Hogg (Exhibition), Lynne Ramsay (We Need to Talk About Kevin) and Carol Morley (Dreams Of a Life). From a documentary about a young woman who, despite having an active social life, was discovered in her flat nearly three years after she death, a gritty reimagining of Wuthering Heights and a very queer take on Virginia Woolf’s Orlando, this collection shows the remarkable diversity of women’s filmmaking today.
