Lotte Reiniger
Lotte Reiniger was one of the 20th century's major animation artists, pioneering a unique and distinctive style of black and white silhouette animation in her interpretations of classic myths and fairy tales.
German born Reiniger defined her signature style of silhouette animation during the Weimar period, culminating in cinema's first ever animated feature film, The Adventures of Prince Ahmed, in 1926. Following World War Two, Reiniger settled in Britain and embarked upon a series of animated fairytales, which would become her best known works amid a filmography of over 50 films.
