Director: Luciana Acuña and Alejo Moguillansky

Overview

Just when you thought you’d experienced enough life under lockdown, this witty comedy opens up a whole new perspective on enduring enforced seclusion. Writer-directors Alejo Moguillansky and Luciana Acuña play versions of themselves alongside their engaging eight-year-old daughter (and narrator) Cleo, as we follow their respective struggles: Alejo’s attempts to direct a Samuel Beckett play over Zoom; frustrated Luciana’s option of online dance classes in lieu of real interaction; and Cleo, bored of virtual schooling and music lessons, decides to buy a telescope funded by selling off household items. Absurdist yet beguilingly relatable, Alejo’s Beckettian odyssey is a droll meta-comment on the eternally stalled existence within the family walls, yet one able to blend existential angst with expert slapstick. Screened as part of the Laugh strand.
