Bri-nylon and bri-lon at the Royal Albert Hall
A parade of colourful fashions wearing their synthetic brand with pride
Overview
When Queen Victoria opened the Royal Albert Hall in 1871 in memory of her dead husband, this was surely the cultural feast she had in mind. ICI and Courtaulds jointly founded British Nylon Spinners in 1940 to create a marriage of science and textiles experience. This film showcases the fashion end of the partnership, recreating a show from their British Nylon Fair for the screen to extend its reach.
