Overview

The US indie hit tells the bold, bawdy and hilarious story of teenager Minnie’s (Bel Powley) sexual awakening after she sleeps with her mother’s boyfriend (Alexander Skarsgård). Newcomer Bel Powley is a joy to watch as the titular Minnie, who confides her sexual exploits to her trusty bedroom tape recorder, while Kristen Wiig provides star support as Minnie's breezy bohemian mum.

Independently produced but acquired by Sony Pictures following the success of its Sundance 2015 premiere, Marielle Heller’s adaptation of Phoebe Gloeckner’s graphic novel effortlessly evokes the slacker charms of 1970s San Francisco, all cleverly scored with a chorus of classic ‘70s rock that seems to comment on Minnie’s journey.
