The Amazing Johnathan Documentary
A fascinating documentary about the famed comic-magician John Edward Szeles as he makes a surprising comeback.
Director: Benjamin Berman
Overview
In 2014 comic-magician John Edward Szeles – famed for his wild live shows and 13-year residency on the Las Vegas strip – was diagnosed with a serious heart condition and given a year to live. Three years later he invites director Ben Berman to follow him as he plans his comeback tour. This frequently hilarious documentary captures the subject’s audacious trickery, leaving Berman struggling to tell truth from illusion as he attempts to get the measure of this uniquely ‘amazing’ man.
