Workers Leaving Nuttall's Brewery, Blackburn (1900)

Filmed at a production plant for Edwardian ale, this unique footage carries a powerful scent of malt and hops.

Non-Fiction 1900 2 mins Silent

Overview

An unusual Mitchell and Kenyon factory film: both bitter and mild. Smoke belches in the background as the class makeup of Nuttall's (later Lions') Lancashire brewery bubbles to the surface: its white collars, blue collars and aprons. Carriages pull in with barrels for bottling and crates for onward transportation. All very sober, but one lad thumbs his nose at us... Cheers!
