Turn Out of the Preston Fire Brigade (c.1901)

Locals line the streets for the fire brigade's procession through Edwardian Preston.

Overview

Mitchell and Kenyon's camera captures these fire fighters on their public demonstration from an excellent vantage point at the corner of two cobbled streets. The man in the foreground with bowler hat and pipe is probably the film's commissioner, George Green, who would have been encouraging the crowds to attend the screening in a local venue not long after this footage was shot.
