The Warrior's May Queen

May I shake your hand, ma'am? Back in Blighty, a soldier finds the proper way to address a queen

Non-Fiction 1918 1 mins

Overview

What would you miss about home if you were fighting in the trenches of WWI? For these soldiers at a spring carnival in Kent, the quaintly English spectacle of a parade of May queens is a sight for sore eyes. This brief film shows queens from London and Kent, dressed in their finery and flanked by standard bearers and fiddle players. The highlight is a "pretty incident" when one chap is so moved that he calls the floats to a halt so he can pay his respects - as a courtier would to his queen.
