Overview

Robert A Mitchell, a chemist, was an amateur filmmaker from Belfast. He filmed several scenes in 1898 in Bangor and on a trip to South Africa. There is no evidence they were ever intended for commercial use and, judging by the examples that survive, they fell some way short of the professional standards of their time.
