That Noise

Fall truly, madly, deeply in love with this animated proto-music video from Godfrey, Lacey and Newly

Animation & Artists Moving Image 1961 2 mins

Overview

A perfect storm of nonsense in a teacup. Bob Godfrey was the lo-fi artisan behind some of Britain’s best comic animation, including Great (1975) and Roobarb (1974). Bruce Lacey was an eccentric genius performance artist long before such things were invented, with an expressive face born to be turned into a cartoon. Anthony Newly was an innovative actor and songwriter with a gift for quirkily combining his skills. Put them together and what could go wrong?
