Tank Bank's Tour through Scotland

The 'Tank Bank' tours through Scotland, selling War Bonds, raising money for the war effort and boosting morale

Non-Fiction 1918 15 mins Silent

Overview

Lifting spirits and raising funds, the Tank Bank is on a tour of Scotland. Traffic comes to a standstill as people line the streets to see the latest in tracked vehicles and artillery that will aid the war effort and help clinch victory. This edition of the Scottish Moving Picture News begins in Edinburgh and takes in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Leith, and features a Mk IV tank, 'Julian', demonstrating its capabilities to the crowds. Each town the tour visited challenged the next to raise even more money, and the total collected across Scotland was a whopping £28 million - enough to build a lot more tanks.
