Overview

The 1958 celebrations of the birth of William Shakespeare include outdoor performances and a visit by dignitaries from the world over. Not of course the centenary of the bard as the title would have it, but in fact his 394th birthday. A look back to the Queen's visit in June 1957 is included as well as visits to a couple of Stratford's lesser known factories: Royal Label, who make road signs; and Precision Metal Spinnings, who are at the cutting edge of radio dish design.
