Are you being served? A bewildered shop girl gets a boutique introduction to an innovative fabric.

Overview

Fully machine-washable wool gets the soft sell in this film for retailers. The unpromising concept is worked into a curious medley of sitcom and pop-art mime, featuring a psychedelic dream sequence, horror film overtones and 1970s sexual dynamics. Animated sections and documentary footage provide technical information, but it's difficult to concentrate amidst the clowning and surreal studio sets!

The featured actors would have been disarmingly familiar to contemporary audiences: Mr Peterson is played by Julian Chagrin, a comedy performer warmly remembered as the 'secret lemonade drinker' in 1970s television adverts for R. White's lemonade. Cheryl Kennedy, who plays Miss Jones, was recognizable from roles in several TV dramas.
