Rowntrees Kit Kat: Model Train

Tri-ang model railways are a lure for children and big kids, but Kit Kat gets the grown-ups' attention

1957 1 mins

Overview

Time for a break! A Tri-ang model railway proves that boys will be boys, and when the grown-ups won’t relinquish control of the model railway, there’s only one way the children can distract their parents. By 1957 Tri-ang had captured the market for model railways with their new plastic injection moulded trains. A greater level of detail than competitors at a lower cost allowed considerable layouts to be built in bedrooms across the UK. The locomotive featured in this commercial is an R159 Double Ended Diesel Loco based on an Australian prototype and was brand new for the 1958 catalogue.
