Overview

This delightful colour film features the children of Howard St nursery school in Burnley. Mary Corner, the head teacher, records the children playing outdoors, and, on a wet day, indoors, painting and using modelling clay. The children play in a pretend kitchen, and have fun with a variety of toys and objects. We also see them tucking into their lunch.

Mary Corner was headmistress of Howard St Nursery School for many years, and had great experience of working with children in pre-school situations. She was a highly skilled filmmaker, a member of Burnley Cine Club, and her films provide an excellent lasting record of the early education of Burnley children.
