Our Naval Losses

Non-Fiction 1914 1 mins Silent

Overview

This newsreel eulogy to British ships sunk in action is a poignant memorial to the thousands of men who lost their lives at sea in the first months of WWI. The film is composed of shots of the ships afloat and features HMS Monmouth and HMS Good Hope - both sunk in the Battle of Coronel, off the Chile coast, on 1 November - and HMS Hogue, sunk by a German submarine in the North Sea on 22 September.
