Once upon a Line

Model husbands prove that size isn't everything as they get steamed up over Lilliput locomotives

Documentary 1947 10 mins

Overview

Size isn't everything, as these "model husbands" are out to prove. The portable miniature railway – big enough to ride on but small enough to fit in the back of a car – is a long-running obsession of the dedicated train hobbyist. As this light-hearted (but sadly incomplete) documentary shows, reference to their full-size counterparts is all important. In the year that the Transport Act nationalised all train companies, this was the stress free way to run a railway.
