Oakley Hunt Meet at St. Peters Green
A sea of local faces, foxhunters on horseback and foxhounds. Newsreel footage captured on the day of the annual Oakley Hunt Meet at St. Peters Green in Bedford.

Overview
The Oakley Hunt is a long-established tradition in Bedford. Foxhunt participants and their observers – a sea of flat caps and riding hats, congregate on and around the Green close to the John Bunyan plinth. This footage was captured by a newsreel company, and would have been shown at the local picturehouse to accompany a main feature. The local people are would-be paying cinema patrons, happy to be captured on film, hoping to at a later date see themselves on-screen.
