Manchester Sunday Schools Whit Monday Procession (1904)

Crowds throng the city streets to see a parade of beautifully turned out children in a festive parade.

Non-Fiction 1904 9 mins Silent

Overview

At a very well-attended Whitsun procession, Mitchell and Kenyon's camera is perfectly placed to capture the row upon row of angelic young children walking hand in hand along the streets of central Manchester. Standing out from the sea of girls in bonnets and frilly white dresses are the boys from Chetham's, dressed in the traditional blue or dark-coloured Tudor frock-coats of charity schools.
