Overview

The blue footballing half of Manchester celebrates here, as City return home with the F.A. Cup, having beaten Birmingham City 3-1. This is the blues' sixth cup final, third win, and a great occasion, with TV cameras recording the team's progress from London Road station to the Town Hall. This brief but fascinating film captures the atmosphere as the fans turn out to support their team.

Goalkeeper Bert Trautmann broke his neck in the game, but this wasn't diagnosed until a day or two after this film was shot. You can see Trautmann on the top of the bus at the back, and on the right just after it passes the camera.1956 saw a Manchester double, when City won the Cup and United were League Champions.
