Overview

The potential use of gas on the home front was clearly of great concern to many and, like conventional bombing, had an impact on everyday life in Britain. The use of gas during the First World War made this threat seem all the more plausible. Although gas was never deployed against British civilians this film demonstrates the high level of planning that took place to counter this very real threat.
