Overview

In January 1928, London was hit by major flooding following heavy snow, heavy rain and then a storm surge in the North Sea. The Thames recorded its highest ever levels and there was considerable damage as well as 14 deaths. This film shows part of that, with walls collapsed along the Embankment and tarmac destroyed. Damaged paintings are carried out the Tate at Pimlico and a yacht floats eerily down the road in Molesey.
