Funeral of Queen Victoria: The Procession passing into Windsor Park

The birth of a new royal tradition

Non-Fiction 1901 3 mins Silent

Overview

This lengthy piece of footage, showing the final leg of Victoria's funeral procession, captures the first instance of a new tradition. Following an incident with the horses, the Royal Navy Bluejackets conveyed the gun carriage to Windsor Castle, a tradition continuing to today. The cold January conditions seem not to have affected the Hepworth Company cameraman who managed to capture the Yeoman of the Guard in full pageantry.
