Overview

Cranes tower over derelict housing, and once-busy streets are now full of debris, but a group of boys can still meet up in the land cleared for redevelopment.

In the 1960s, the City of Salford undertook a huge programme of slum clearance, demolishing many streets of condemned terraces, and replacing them with new homes and tower blocks. Michael Goodger, from Salford University, shot many hours of film footage documenting the transformation of the area.
