Overview

Each Kodachrome memory leapfrogs the next in a film of family portraits and trips around old Northumberland. So distant in time and tempo, the historic riverside and Sunday Quayside market in Newcastle are all bustle but Lindisfarne is remarkably empty. The toe-dipping pleasure of sea and sand at Tynemouth, Cullercoats or St Mary's Island are still popular in the early 60s despite cheaper package holidays tempting more Brits to travel abroad.
