Party political broadcast 1979 10 mins

Overview

Britain's struggle to get ahead in the international prosperity stakes is visualised as a long-distance athletics race in this Conservative Party campaign. The film features the famous slogan "Labour isn't Working", dreamt up by advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi in the run up to the 1979 election. A 5% swing from Labour to Conservative saw Margaret Thatcher come to power on 3 May.

This is one of five party political broadcasts made for the Conservatives by Saatchi & Saatchi during the 1979 campaign.
