Overview

These spectacular scenes of a three-man team climbing the Jungfrau from base to summit were captured by American mountaineer and adventurous cameraman Frederick Burlingham. His eye for touristic perspectives and technical climbing shots set a high bar for mountaineering films to come.

American-born Burlingham based himself in London for a few years and travelled to Europe to film various mountain ascents - mostly Alpine but also including his famous descent into the crater of Vesuvius.
