Overview
Butchers, bakers and confectionery makers set out their festive stalls in this luminous film of Godalming's historic town centre. Emerging from a local inn, older menfolk smile and pose for the camera, pipe and beer-glass in hand. They seem blissfully removed from any pre-Christmas rush - did they miss the last number 22 bus home, one wonders?
Sadly, the early 35mm film stock used in making this film is subject to chemical decomposition. Viewers will notice the loss of image in some parts of the film as well as the effects of over-exposure.
