This was one of a series of short films shot by Digby Rumsey based on stories by noted Irish 'Weird Fiction' writer Lord Dunsany. At the heart of this evocative tale is a gloriously well-realised corpse, creakily dangling from the gallows. As the highwayman's sinful life is slowly revealed, the jarring contrast between the stillness of death and the bawdy rigour of life is vividly reflected.
