The God King 1974

99 mins United Kingdom Director. Lester James Peries

This unusual British co-production was the first colour feature to be made in Sri Lanka and was directed by one of the country’s most prolific filmmakers. Set in 5th century Sri Lanka, the film follows the battle for the throne between Kassapa and his father King Dhatusena. Lavish costumes and sets provide a vivid backdrop for the tale of intrigue and plotting.
