Prototype British planes are mysteriously disappearing on their test flights, and Major Hammond of Scotland Yard (Ralph Richardson) is called in to investigate, teaming up with ace pilot Tony McVane (Laurence Olivier). The problem is still unsolved when Tony goes up on a test flight and is brought down over the Atlantic by a ship. When taken aboard as a captive, he discovers the other missing airmen and attempts to devise a way for them to escape.
