Lila Says 2004 18

89 mins France Director. Ziad Doueiri

Chimo (Moa Khouas) is a gifted young writer with a bright future ahead of him – that is, until, he realizes he cannot afford to go to Paris to study. Remaining at home, he meets a girl new to his neighbourhood – the mysterious and sultry Lila (Vahina Giocante). Enticing him with her beauty and enigmatic nature, Lila engages in a serious flirtation with the young writer as she tells him all about her sexual past. Things get heated – and dangerous – for the two young lovers when one of Chimo’s friends gets involved. Doueiri has crafted an exquisite, sexy, and resonant romance that brings to mind all of our first loves.

A festival player at both the 2004 London Film Festival and the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, Lila Says has captivated audiences all around the world with its frank exploration into young love and sexual politics. It’s a dynamic and dazzling ride of adolescent discovery and sensual awakenings.
