Cuthbert Gardner 1968

"Why Tory?" Broadcaster Bernard Braden questions aspiring politician Cuthbert Gardner, candidate in Merton local council elections. Perhaps surprisingly, Gardner believes the Conservative Party is "more realistic" than the Labour Party, declaring "in fact, they're factual." This interview was recorded as part of Braden's ambitious, uncompleted survey of British society in the 1960s, Now and Then.
