The Bradford Godfather 1976

49 mins United Kingdom Director. John Willis, Paul Dunstan

Meet Mohamed Fazal Hussain, elder statesman and all-round Mr Fix-it of Bradford's Muslim community, and a film mogul in the making... A man ahead of the curve in so many ways, Hussain made the trip from Bangalore to Bradford way back in 1927. By the time of this 1976 Yorkshire TV profile, the 73-year-old foundry personnel officer-cum-advisor and counsellor to the local Muslim community had earned himself the unofficial titles 'Godfather' and 'Emperor'.

The film follows him working in Bradford and on an emotional return to Pakistan, and gives us an unforgettable behind-the-scenes glimpse of his new project; an adrenaline-fuelled, Bollywood-style romantic thriller, shot on location in Ilkley...
