A Railway Miscellany 1970

11 mins United Kingdom

A fascinating compilation of footage documenting aspects of Britain's rail in the 1970s, including the stations at Rainhill and Earlestown, and an assortment of model railways. The filmmaker also takes time to record the bright colours of butterflies on the buddleia growing freely beside the line, and - on a sadder note - abandoned buildings with the rusting remains of track and rolling stock.

Set up in 1977, the North West Film Archive preserves moving images made in or about Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside and Cumbria and offers a variety of access services to users in the public, academic and commercial sectors.
